I am a proud man

I left for work one Tuesday morning, arriving at the plant
at 8 a.m., as I had each work day for six years. At noon I was laid off. My family was already living hand to mouth,
so it didn't take long for us to be in dire straights.
I am a proud man. I am used to helping others not needing others. But I didn't know where we would get our next
meal. I called JFCS for assistance. The JFCS Winn-Dixie Emergency Food Pantry provided me and my family with food
and the Emergency Financial Assistance program helped pay the rent.
Six months later I found a good job. I was able to get back on my feet and once again, provide for my family. I
was grateful for the help. And I was impressed by the way I was treated with dignity at a very bad time. Now I
can volunteer my help to others who experience similar setbacks. I even send in donation money once in a while.
