2007 Adoption Excellence Award Recipient
National Award recognizes achievements made by local agency
November 9, 2007
The 2007 Adoption Excellence Award recognizes outstanding accomplishments in achieving permanency for children waiting in foster care.
Well known for its court proficiency, innovative structure and timely services, JFCS finalized 108 adoptions of foster children last fiscal year. Care Coordinators and Adoption Specialists work hand in hand, bringing life to the vision that each child has the right to a secure, loving, forever home.
In the United States, over 514,000 children live in foster care. Of these children, close to 115,000 are awaiting a permanent adoptive home. Locally, over 250 children are waiting to find their "forever family."
The award will be presented in Washington D.C.

JFCS receives $40,000 to Help Young Women
November 30, 2007
The Women’s Giving Alliance has just awarded Jewish Family & Community Services a $40,000 independent living grant to run a program for girls “aging out” of the foster care system. This program, scheduled to start in January, will help young women develop self esteem, good decision making skills as well as basic life skills.
The Women's Giving Alliance, an initiative of The Community Foundation in Jacksonville, is a dynamic group of diverse women who pool their philanthropic giving to make a lasting impact on the lives of women and girls in Northeast Florida.
For further information about the Independent Living program at JFCS and how you can help these young girls become self sufficient, call Colleen Lloyd at Jewish Family & Community Services (JFCS) 394-5752.
