Caring for Your Parent
Tuesday, May 14th 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM
Please join us for an interactive group as we explore how to discuss the sensitive aging issues with our parents. This program will be led by Shelley Kulchin, Eldercare Advocate of Senior Solutions at JFCS, and Rachel Weinstein LMHC, of Dupont Counseling Group. They will look at how to be proactive and respectful of their needs, while balancing our own boundaries. You will learn specific tools on how to communicate effectively (free of frustration and fear) and review how to care for yourself in the process. To be held at JFCS, 6261 Dupont Station Ct. E.

Conversation Cafes:
The JFCS Conversation Cafe is a series of health-related topics, served over lunch. The programs are free and open to the entire community but RSVP’s are a must, as seating is limited. The next Conversation Cafe will be held Thursday, May 23rd from 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM and the topic is:

Community Support Groups:
- Coping with Separation or Divorce? Dupont Counseling Group at JFCS, through the generous support of Congregation Ahavath Chesed, the Temple, is offering a 6-week support group for those going through divorce or separation. There will be two groups offered; one for men and one for women at no cost to participants. A minimum of 6 people per group is needed in order to begin. - Hear O Israel: Coping with Hearing Loss. This group meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month at Congregation Ahavath Chesed, 8727 San Jose Blvd. Co-sponsored by JFCS and the Temple, the group is open to the community. Call 733-7078 or 394-5777.
- Caregiver Support Group. Caring for a spouse, parent, family member or other loved one? Feeling overwhelmed? Please join this newly formed caregiver group, which meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. Call 394-5722 or 394-5777 to let us know your are coming.
- Jewish Addiction Support. Anyone interested in coming forward to share concerns and seek guidance with other individuals dealing with the painful issues of alcohol and drug addiction are invited to be part of a volunteer-led support group. Open to anyone in the Jewish community. All inquiries are strictly confidential. Call 394-5737.
